Australia & New Zealand: Sting & Paul Simon On Stage Together...

June 29, 2014

We are pleased to announce that Sting & Paul Simon will bring their critically-acclaimed On Stage Together tour to Australia and New Zealand in January and February 2015! The tour kicks off Friday, January 30 at Vector Arena in Auckland and will continue on to select cities including Brisbane, Geelong, Adelaide, Melbourne, Hunter Valley, and Sydney, before the tour culminates with an outdoor concert at Sir James Mitchell Park in Perth. A complete itinerary is included below.

The Sting.com fan club pre-sale begins Tuesday, July 1 at 10AM, offering members the opportunity to purchase tickets in advance of the general public. Details on the Tour page. American Express Card Members may purchase tickets beginning Wednesday, July 2 at 10AM, with tickets on sale to the public as of Monday, July 7 at 10AM. All times are local.

As exemplified on their North American tour earlier this year, the concerts in Australia and New Zealand will feature two of music's most iconic singer/songwriters blending their voices and their bands while performing their best-known songs both together and apart. In what was one of the most highly-praised North American concert tours of 2014, media and fans alike were unanimous in their reviews.

"...[it was a] momentous show, this great melding of music by two of the world’s finest songwriters and singers. Paul and Sting seemed to have as much fun as we did. And that was infectious. We got three solid hours of amazing material, performed by two true pros with a small army of world-class musicians. It was a joyful night, a triumphant one, and a great reminder that even in our techno-world, nothing can touch the greatness of real musicians joining together on great songs. Rejoice." - American Songwriter, February 2014

Sting's "The Last Ship," which received its much-anticipated world premiere in Chicago on Wednesday night, is an old-fashioned grand opera of the most eloquent sort - awash in both turbulent emotions and intimate dramatic gestures. A true masterwork, it not only keens a ravishing dirge for a lost way of life, and the indomitable spirit of the working class as it continues to stagger through this post-industrial age. But as it spins an eternal tale of the tensions between fathers and sons (and yes, a "holy ghost" of sorts, too), as well as the ardor and disappointments of love, the opposing pull of home and "away," and the need for some form of faith along with ennobling work, it magnifies the human heartbeat, and captures a genuine sense of the yearning that keeps people going...
